Karen Faller is an artist from Canada who moved to Madison, Wisconsin, a little under 20 years ago. Originally trained as a biologist and doing art as a hobby (painting, printmaking, and photography), she started creating art more professionally in 2016. Nature continues to influence her art, and the themes of nature, past travels, change, and impermanence weave throughout her work. For the past five years, Karen has been working almost exclusively with encaustic, a more than 2000-year-old technique of painting using melted beeswax, resin, and pigments.
